women drivers

On June 24 2018, Saudi Arabia allowed women to drive cars on public roads. Since then 24th June is celebrated as International Women Driver’s Day. It’s meant to be a call for reflection on how women have been perceived in society, as car owners, road users, auto mechanics, or in motorsport.

Personally I think women are great drivers, this is why -

  • they let you go ahead easily, unlike me tussling with a Fortuner while I am in a Nano in a bid to not let him get ahead of me.
  • absolutely calm drivers with no cursing and road rage.
  • sometimes bad at parking, but with modern day assisted parking systems things are getting better.
  • most importantly, I never see them as a threat on the road if they are ahead of me.

Believe me there is no point in haggling over who is a better driver - men or women. With self driving cars right around the corner, I don’t think driving would even be a life skill for the next generation.

Nonetheless Happy International Women Driver’s Day to all women reading this post.
